Feature Details

A deeper look at each feature and how to use it.

Expiration Calendar

The home screen shows a monthly calendar. Every day with expiring items displays coloured numbered badges — one badge per category, with the number showing how many items are due that day.

How to use

  • Tap a day — Opens a sheet listing every item due that day, grouped by category. Each item shows its entry date, days in stock, and storage location. Tap the + icon to add a new item for that date.
  • Tap an item in the sheet — Opens the Inventory filtered to that expiry date.
  • Long-press an item in the sheet — Shows a confirmation dialog before deleting.
  • Monthly strip (below calendar) — Shows how many items expire in the current month. Tap for full urgency breakdown.
  • Add Item button (bottom centre) — Adds an item to the selected date or today.
  • Navigation drawer (☰ on any screen, or swipe from left) — Available on every screen; navigate to Reports, Inventory, Calculator, Tips & Guides, Locations, Settings, and About without going back to the calendar first.
  • Tap the HAPT logo in any child screen — Returns to the configured landing page (Settings → Landing page).

Adding an Item

Every item has a category that controls which fields appear. Categories include Water, Food, Medicine, Equipment, Energy, Document, Action, Inspection, and Other.

Category-specific fields

  • Water: Container type (Bottle, Canteen, Jug, Jerry Can, Barrel, IBC Tote, and more — selecting a type auto-fills the typical volume), volume per item with L / mL toggle, Tank ID, Rotation target date
  • Food: Tags, Meal Fraction, Total Package Weight, Servings per Pack, Weight per Serving, Energy (kcal/100g)
  • Medicine: Usage Type (Daily/As Needed), Include in Calculator, Doses per item (barcode lookup available for food only)
  • Equipment: Description, Location
  • Energy: Source type, Description, Capacity, Voltage, Wattage, Runtime, Fuel type, Condition, Last tested
  • Document: File attachment (PDF, TXT, DOC, images), Description

Water rotation

Rotation date auto-seeds to the configured interval (default 6 months, adjustable in Settings). Expiry is automatically set to 5 days after the rotation date. Tap Mark Rotated on any water card to advance both dates to the next cycle from today. The rotation interval is configurable per device in Settings → "Water — rotation interval (months)".

Food calculations

Fill any two of Total Package Weight, Servings per Pack, and Weight per Serving, then tap Recalculate to compute the third.

Meal Fraction

Determines how much of a balanced meal one serving provides. Combine 1/3 Carbs + 1/3 Protein + 1/3 Vegetables for one full balanced meal.

Mandatory fields

Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*) and show a red border while empty. A counter above the Save button shows how many mandatory fields are still missing; the button stays greyed until all are filled. Name is required for every category. Food items additionally require Total Package Weight and Energy (kcal per 100 g).

Barcode Scanner

Scan food barcodes to automatically pull product information from the OpenFoodFacts database. The product card shows name, brand, Nutri-Score, NOVA group, full nutritional table, and ingredients.

Auto-filled fields

  • Total package weight
  • Servings per pack
  • Weight per serving
  • Energy per 100g
  • Food tags
